Research On Urban Design Guidance Of Yulin Road Intersection

Urban road intersection is an important spatial element of cities,which can express urban image and create public space.Through the intersection study,audiences will get the first impression of cities,understand cities and evaluate cities.Any two streets can compose an intersection,so each intersection's spatial shapes and functional attributes are different.Be careful to deal with the morphological relationship and surrounding areas of the intersection which can provides the spatial orders.Since pedestrians and vehicles from different directions are always cumulated around the intersection,more needs to be considered for the design of urban intersection.In this paper,author takes City of Yulin's intersections as examples and hopes can combine the types of intersections and attributes to give the comprehensive and general model of urban design guidelines.This guideline can use for better design of intersection,thus provides high quality of public spaces for local residents and tourists.Base on the urban design perspective,this article introduces the theoretical researches of the urban road intersection to analyze the special attributes of urban road intersections.It also clarifies the urban design content of road intersections.The goal-oriented approach is to integrate the elements of urban design at road intersections,including spatial pattern,traffic organization,street facade design,surrounding space of buildings,and environment facilities which is the first level of elements,and some of specific second level elements.Based on the elements of the intersection design,the distribution of road intersections and Renmin Road intersection in City of Yulin will be analyzed in depth upon the overall methods.Then try to understand the current situations and what do road intersections of City of Yulin missing.Finally,according to the types of different road intersections,specific and targeted guidancemeasures and control methods are proposed,the expression of “Figure + Table + Text” is adopted,and the intersection of Renmin Road is taken as the practice to complete the urban design of road intersections guidelines.
