The Alternating-Current(AC)magnetic latching relay is a new type of relay with the advantages of small size,low PCB mounting power consumption,strong load capacity,safety and reliability,and long life.However,during the process of opening and closing the AC magnetic latching relay,an arc is generated between the contacts.Due to the action of the arc,the contacts are electrochemically corroded,which seriously affects the stability of the relay.In order to increase the stability and electrical life of the AC magnetic latching relay,this paper studies the arc characteristics of the AC magnetic latching relay.Firstly,the mechanical structure of the AC magnetic latching relay was simulated,and a simulation experiment device of the magnetic latching relay was designed.Using the experimental device,the contact breaking simulation experiment of the magnetic latching relay was carried out under different power supply voltages,different loop currents,different contact gaps and different contact breaking speeds,and the data collected by the high-speed camera and the upper computer was processed,the arcing energy,arcing time and arc length under different experimental conditions are obtained.By analyzing the AC arc characteristics of the experimental results,the following conclusions are drawn: increasing the loop current and the power supply voltage will increase the arcing energy,arcing time and arc length,and the initial phase angle of the arc is closely related to the three arc characteristics.Relationship.When the initial phase angle of arcing is between 0°~90° and 180°~270°,the arcing energy,arcing time and arcing length are generally too large;increasing the clearance of the contacts will reduce the arcing energy.Therefore,the arcing time is reduced,although there is a certain chance to increase the length of the arc,but the arc length is generally reduced due to the decrease of the arc energy;reducing the breaking speed of the contact has a certain help to reduce the energy of the arc,and at the same time For magnetic latching relays,reducing the breaking speed of the contacts also helps prevent contact bounce.The mechanical parameters of the sample relay were optimized based on the analysis results of the relay arc characteristics.Taking the optimized relay and sample relay as experimental objects,the relay electrical life test was carried out.By comparing the experimental results,it can be seen that the optimized electrical life of the magnetic latching relay has been significantly improved,which proves the correctness of the theoretical analysis of the AC magnetic latching relay arc.The research results have positive significance for furtherimproving the stability and service life of AC magnetic latching relays.
