In recent years, the community has gradually become an important carrier for carrying out various aging services.Old communities in big cities are facing more urgent and heavier construction needs because of their long construction time and the gathering of elderly people. At present, the research on community ageing adaptation is still mostly focused on the needs of the elderly population and community-scale material space transformation. From the perspective of architecture, this paper attempts to explore more systematically the aging-adapted transformation strategies of old communities in big cities from three scales: city, street and community. This paper relies on two practical projects: the monograph on the overall urban design of Nanjing and the comprehensive environmental renovation project of Nanjing city wall and moat-the comprehensive environmental renovation project along the Ming city wall. This paper is divided into five parts according to different research scales. The research of policy system mainly summarizes the development of policy indicators and the changes of the focus of the work of ministries and commissions since the 12 th Five-Year Plan, combs out the index system of spatial allocation and construction, and provides the basis and reference for the follow-up study of integrated design strategy. The research on the city scale mainly focuses on the spatial distribution pattern and temporal and spatial evolution law of the aging population in Nanjing, grasps the distribution status and development trend of the aging population in Nanjing, and chooses three kinds of old-age facilities closely related to the life of the elderly within the central urban area, namely medical facilities,old-age service facilities and green space,to analyze the spatial benefits and accessibility of their distribution. To clarify the spatial characteristics of the distribution of old-age care facilities in the central urban area of Nanjing, and screen the blind spots of the distribution of three types of old-age care facilities.Based on this,we roughly determine the old community classification of big cities based on the accessibility of urban old-age-related resources, and study the impact of the distribution of different urban old-age-related resources on the elderly.Street-scale research focuses on the daily travel of the elderly and the distribution of community life service facilities. This chapter focuses on the investigation and study of the elderly’s daily travel rules and preferences for the choice of activity destinations;secondly,it explores the rules of the distribution of community life service facilities, and analyses the correlation between daily travel and the layout of living facilities;finally,it explores the distribution of urban old-related resources and the elderly based on the research results of the previous chapter.Relevance of daily travel;from a large-scale perspective,to provide theoretical guidance for community and its surrounding space planning, community life service circle optimization, etc. The community scale mainly studies the current situation of the use of spatial environmental factors and the needs of transformation in the old communities of big cities, and integrates and implements theabove multi-scale research to clarify the details and key points of the transformation of community environmental factors. Finally, taking Dashugen community as an example, this paper explores the multi-scale correlation of the old urban community aging rehabilitation practice methods by integrating the above research conclusions.
