Research On The Protection And Renewal Of Industrial Heritage Residential Areas Based On Value Inheritance

In the early days of the founding of the PRC,in order to coordinate with industrial development and solve the housing problems of the broad working class,a number of workers’ residential areas were built under the leadership of the government and enterprises.They mostly exist in the form of group buildings and are widely distributed in China.In the late eighties of the 20 th century,China’s industrial heritage protection practice enlightened.With the deepening of research,workers’ residential areas as part of industrial heritage buildings were also included in the scope of research.However,the author finds that most of the current researches on the protection and renewal of industrial heritage buildings focus on abandoned industrial buildings,and there is a lack of attention and distinctive research on the residential buildings,workers’ houses,which are quite different in architectural form and structure.Therefore,this paper intends to conduct systematic research on the old workers’ residential areas in this particular period in the context of the protection of industrial heritage,which takes the inheritance of heritage value as a clue.Its purpose is to guide the practice of protection and renewal of old workers’ residential areas.Firstly,this paper systematically combs the relevant research literature of industrial heritage and industrial heritage residential areas,defines the core concepts,understands the theoretical research and practical status of protection and renewal of industrial heritage residential areas at home and abroad,and analyses the development trend and shortcomings,with a view to laying a theoretical foundation for the follow-up study of the paper.Then the social background and historical evolution of the construction and use of workers’ residential areas are summarized in the academic field,and divided into three stages according to the sequence of time.Then,from the aspects of spatial distribution,basic characteristics and development status of industrial heritage residential areas,the current status of its remains is checked.Based on the above information,the research on industrial heritage residential areas with heritage value as the starting point of protection is carried out.By analyzing the characteristics of its heritage value,it is pointed out that the inheritance of intangible and spiritual cultural heritage should not be neglected in the process of protecting them.Then,combined with the analysis of excellent protection cases at home and abroad,the paper concludes the key strategies for the protection and renewal of industrial heritage residential areas.To realize the protection and renewal of historical sections,we should take space elements,residents,and urban memories as the ties of values and architectural entities,combine urban development goals,and unite the government,the public,and developers to make overall industrial planning.Finally,through the research and application of workers’ residential areas in Honggang City,Wuhan,the specific contents of protection and renewal are put forward by using the summarized strategies and methods,in order to verify the applicability and scientificity of the protection and renewal of workers’ residential areas.
