Research On Application Of Microwave Heating Technology In Maintenance Of Asphalt Pavement

Asphalt pavement has been widely used in highway construction at all levels in China because of its good performance.However,due to the combined action of natural factors and traffic loads,pits,cracks and grooves will appear in the pavement during its service.Maintenance of damaged parts become a necessary means to restore road function.Traditional thermal repair methods have some disadvantages,such as long construction period,low efficiency,great impact on traffic and environment.It is necessary to study a method of repairing asphalt concrete pavement with fast repairing speed and little impact on traffic and environment.The application of microwave heating technology in repairing old road diseases such as ruts,pits and cracks is of great significance for the maintenance of old roads to achieve the goal of high efficiency and good effect.Some equipment has been put into use in China,but it has not been widely promoted.In this paper,the microwave heating technology is deeply explored and discussed in order to promote the practical application of microwave technology.Through the tests and analysis of this paper,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)By evaluating the performance of asphalt mixture before and after microwave heating,it was found that the dynamic stability of asphalt mixture changed obviously,which increased by 17.2%.After microwave heating repair,the low temperature performance of asphalt mixture and the water stability reduced,but the degree of reduction was not very large,which can still meet the technical requirements of relevant standards and specifications.(2)Crack repair technology shows that microwave heating can rapidly heat the pavement on both sides of the crack,and the joint and the filling asphalt have a good fusion,and the strength is guaranteed.The pit repair process shows that the quality of microwave-heated asphalt mixture after backfilling and compaction fully meets the requirements of maintenance specifications such as asphalt pavement,which shows that microwave heating,like the existing infrared and asphalt mixture,is suitable for the maintenance of actual highway.(3)The asphalt pavement of a certain length in the actual road is repaired by microwave.Based on the investigation of pavement damage,the corresponding microwave treatment method is adopted according to the disease situation.After the microwave repairing is completed,the test section is inspected accordingly.The measured evaluation index shows that the pavement performance after microwave heating repairing meets the requirements of relevant specifications.The feasibility of microwave heating technology in the maintenance of asphalt pavement is demonstrated by the related experiments and analysis combined with the field test section.The microwave heating technology has broad application prospect.
