Urban regional characteristic is always one of the key points of urban construction. As a common carrier of urban history and commerce, traditional commercial blocks can strongly represent the local culture.Meanwhile, the night scene has become an indispensable part to display the historical style of a city as the night activity increasingly becomes a hard indicator to evaluate the economic prosperity level. It is urgent for the current lighting project to transform and update the night space of these traditional commercial blocks, making their night scene more reasonable in function, more energyefficient in lighting and more harmonious in atmosphere.Taking Liyang in lane and Tunxi Old Street in Huangshan City as the research object and selecting the representative space type as the sample photo for visual perception evaluation experiment, this paper comprehensively employed various methods such as field investigation, brain wave analysis, eye movement track measurement and SD psychological evaluation to comprehensively evaluate the night space of traditional commercial blocks and propose optimum measures.First of all, based on the current lighting situation of traditional commercial blocks and the way of recognizing the city according to the City Image, the spaces of Tunxi Old Street and Liyang in lane were classified into four types: entrance space, square space, street lane space and riverside space. Then, the lighting situation of each type was described in turn with a conclusion that the environmental brightness of street lane space and riverside space were extreme, and the lighting design of square space and entrance space were disordered. Finally, the cause of the above problems was analyzed to be there were contradictions between the ancient buildings and the commercial lighting demand in the traditional commercial street.Secondly, brain wave and eye movement experiments were carried out on the pictures of day and night of the typical places to analyze the influence of various lighting modes on human visual perception.Subsequently,it was found that the influence of the night on human alpha wave was more obvious than that of the day in the same scene(generally appeared in EEG when people were happy physically and mentally)and the illumination could also have a positive effect on human alpha wave value.Additionally,a conclusion could be drawn that higher eye aggregation degree of subjects would be obtained if a sample with projection lighting was used through making statistics of eye movement data and analyzing thermal graph aggregation degree and spatial element location.Meanwhile, the SD method and the multivariable analysis were employed to collect the evaluation information of the typical space of the subjects and extract three kinds of perception factors to explain the atmosphere characteristics of the night space, respectively, thus grasping the psychological perception evaluation of the subjects on the night scene space atmosphere of the traditional commercial blocks. Finally, from the perspective of optimizing the amenity and history of the night space, this paper proposed an optimization strategy of integrating tourists and night space, provided specific suggestions for different lighting modes and atmosphere constructions of each space type, and offered optimization measures based on the theme color to the two main business types. The author took the cases of Liyang in lane and Tunxi Old Street as research examples to provide reference for upgrading the quality of night space atmosphere of the traditional commercial street and expand the research methods and perspectives of enriching the night space.
