It has been six years since the initiative of the “21st century maritime silk road”was put forward.In the past six years,China and major countries along the silk road have been actively enhancing bilateral port connectivity,enhancing bilateral port cooperation and building a modern and competitive international port operation system.In this context,what is the level of overall port competitiveness between China and major countries along the silk road?How does the level of port comprehensive competitiveness affect the bilateral trade between China and major countries along the silk road?How to further enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of bilateral ports?How to evaluate the impact of port comprehensive competitiveness on bilateral trade from the perspective of economic efficiency?This is the purpose of this paper.In the 21 st century 46 major countries along the maritime silk route port as the research object,the overall competitiveness of coverage including southeast Asia,South Asia,the Middle East,central Asia,north Africa,central and eastern Europe,Western Europe,South Africa,rt:,southern Europe,time dimension is2007-2018,a total of 12 years,through the establishment of the port comprehensive competitiveness evaluation index system,using principal component analysis(pca)is calculated along the comprehensive competitiveness of the port.Bilateral trade gravity model is calculated based on the comprehensive competitiveness of high and low impact on bilateral trade port,the main conclusions are as follows: one is the comprehensive competitiveness of major national ports along the whole from 2007 to2018 at the steady rise stage,but also have Iran,Libya,Tunisia,Greece and other parts of country because of a perennial subject to international sanctions,wars turmoil and debt crisis and other factors,the port comprehensive competitiveness declined slightly in recent years.Second,there is a relatively large gap in the comprehensive competitiveness of ports in different regions along the route.The comprehensive competitiveness of ports in China,Malaysia,Singapore,Saudi Arabia,Egypt,South Africa,the United Kingdom,Germany,France,the Netherlands and other countries is at a high level in this region.Third,the level of port comprehensive competitiveness has a significant positive effect on bilateral trade between China and major countries along the silk road(taking aquatic products as an example).The improvement of port infrastructure and the improvement of port comprehensive competitiveness will further enhance bilateral trade.From the above conclusions,we can get enlightenment: first,strengthen the international cooperation between governments and build the top-level design of bilateral port cooperation.Second,strengthen bilateral port connectivity and build a bilateral port alliance development mechanism.Third,we will strengthen the construction of port infrastructure and raise the level of port operations.Fourth,we will increase financial input and establish a multi-dimensional financing mechanism for port development.Fifth,we will improve the level of port technology and operation and build a new generation of smart and intelligent ports.
