With its unique natural conditions and long-standing industrial accumulation,The Pearl River Delta has become the starting point of the sugar cane sugar industry in modern China and a sugar industry base known throughout the country before the 1990 s.With the development of the times, the sugar industry gradually withdrew from the historical stage in the Pearl River Delta, leaving behind a large number of cultural heritage that witnessed the "sweet cause" of the past.Due to the rapid expansion and renewal of urban construction, most of the sugar factory buildings are faced with renewal and transformation due to their significant economic and cultural values, while sugar factory worker settlements that also carry "sweet memories" are often overlooked. The nature of its land is not easy to change, property rights and other issues,it is more difficult to protect and update, and it is easy to become an "urban island." Through on-site investigation of the sugar mill worker community in the Pearl River Delta combined with research on plant history and factory records, explore the planning and construction process of sugar mill worker settlements, summarize and reveal their characteristics, further explore the value of worker settlements, and propose protection and renewal strategies on this basis. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, expounding the research object, background, significance, and methods of this article, and conducting a literature review of previous research results;the second chapter analyzes the social economy, industrial development, and housing policies on housing construction by clarifying the relevant construction background.Influence,on this basis, combing the history of the factory and other historical materials to sort out the construction process of the workers ’settlement in the Pearl River Delta sugar sugar factory, providing a comprehensive historical basis for in-depth analysis of the workers’ settlement in the sugar factory;Chapters 3 and 4 respectively The spatial characteristics and life forms of the workers ’settlements were analyzed in detail.Through the analysis of historical graphic files, building plan data, the status quo and interviews with the staff members of the sugar factory, the characteristics of the workers’ settlement planning and architectural design and the workers ’residences were summarized. The social and cultural impacts of the district;Chapter 5 extracts the value of sugar factory workers ’settlements on the basis of the previous research, points out its current status, and proposes corresponding protection and update strategies based on the value orientation and the status quo;finally,it concludes the whole article. The study believes that the construction of the workers’ settlements in the Pearl River Delta sugar factory is affected by the development of the industry and is also constrained by the factors of the times.Secondly, from the aspects of site selection, planning layout, architectural characteristics, etc.,the spatial characteristics of sugar factory workers’ settlements are explained, which are considered to have distinctive industrial characteristics and era characteristics.Under the influence of era-oriented dominant planning and design ideas, they have also developed Adapt to the formal characteristics of climate and terrain;sugar factory worker settlements have an irreplaceable value as an industrial heritage, and they should be updated as soon as possible, not only at the physical level but also at the non-physical level. |
