Wind blowing snow is a natural phenomenon in which snow and snowfall drift and move with the wind and eventually accumulate. In terms of road traffic, first of all,the visual range obstacle formed by wind blowing snow affects the driver's sight, which greatly increases the probability of traffic accidents.Secondly, the snow particles carried by wind and snow accumulate on the roads to form a large amount of snow, which will block road traffic and affect the passage of vehicles, causing vehicles and people trapped. In addition, the erosion of roadbed caused by the melting of a large amount of snow caused by wind induced snowdrift can not be ignored. When the intensity of wind blowing snow is certain, the severity of road wind blowing snow disaster is mainly affected by two aspects: first, the choice of roadbed form and parameter setting;second, the form and parameter setting of protective facilities. In this paper, the key factors influencing the wind-blown snow disaster are studied by field model measurement and numerical simulation of flow field. The results can provide basis and reference for the road engineering construction and the prevention of wind-blown snow disaster in wind-blown snow area. This paper mainly carries out the following works:(1)The corresponding relationship between the numerical simulation flow field results and the measured snow cover location is discussed, and the snow cover formation mechanism of each model is analyzed. The results show that certain correspondence exists between the area of wind speed decrease in the flow field and the snow cover location, but quantitative determination of snow cover location based solely on the boundary of the flow field shows large error.(2)By changing the model of embankment slope, the analysis of the effect of embankment slope on the surrounding snow distribution, the results show that the slope of windward embankment has a greater influence on the snow distribution, slower windward slope of embankment accumulates less snow in the vicinity of and on the road. The leeward slope of embankment has little influence on the snow accumulation near the embankment. The critical slope of the embankment suggested in this study is between 40o and 45o.(3)The influence law of ventilation rate of the snow fence on the snow cover range, snow cover amount and snow cover shape before and after the fence is analyzed. The results show that the snow cover area in front of the snow fence decreases with the increasement of ventilation rate, the snow cover area downstream of the fence increases with the increasement of ventilation rate, and the total snow cover area increases with the increasement of ventilation rate. The snow distribution of each snow accumulation stage exhibits different characteristics around snow fence with different ventilation, and the suggested ventilation rate of the anti-snow fence is 65%.(4)Taking the snow fence with a ventilation rate of 0% as an example, the influence of setting distance between the snow barrier and embankment on the snow around the road is analyzed. The results show that if the distance between the fence and embankment is too small, the snow will spread on the road and aggravate the snow damage;if the distance between fence and embankment is too large, the effect of the fence will be weakened to some extent.
