A Study On Methods Of Artistic Conception And Theories Of Emperor Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes Of Mountain Resort

Emperor Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes of Mountain Resort,also known as Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes,integrated garden with poetry,painting and calligraphy,based on the traditional Chinese culture for landscape construction and artistic expression.Previous quantitative research have studied the artistic conception of Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes from the perspective of literature and history,studies on garden theories concentrated on the individual more than the whole.This article took Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes as a whole Serial Scenes,focusing on the methods of artistic conception and theories by analyzing the source of "idea" and the meaning of "image".Based on literature analysis and field investigations,combined with imperial poetry and paintings,this paper classified and located Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes from different dimension,which revealed the construction method of Serial Scenes system.Based on this,typical images were selected to trace the cultural connotation and summarize classical paradigm,typical scenes were systematically analyzed to explore the relationship between landscape patterns and artistic expression.The results showed that Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes borrowed ideas and methods from legends and historical allusions,traditional literature and painting,as well as scenic spots,which not only added natural and humanistic,poetic and artistic expression to the scenes,but also showed the emperor's political aspirations,philosophical thoughts and aesthetic ideals.In terms of design theories,spring scenes,water-mirror,and mountain scenes were three typical methods to construct landscape according to the suitable place and time,which reflected the relevance and integrity of Kangxi's Thirty-six Scenes,also achieved unity of "word","image" and "idea".
