The Study Of Staircase In Guangzhou Modern Architecture

Guangzhou is the capital city with the earliest opening-up and the most affected by the West.Modern architecture in Guangzhou is the product of the integration of Lingnan traditional architecture and Western architecture.Multistory buildings have gradually become the main form of urban architecture in modern times,so staircases have become an important part of architecture.Its form,scale,material,decoration and other characteristics as well as design statute,conservation status and protection utilization are worth studying.Through field investigation and literature research,this paper sorts out the Guangzhou's staircase regulations in the period of the Republic of China,records the basic situation and characteristics of modern building staircases in Guangzhou.Its functions included transportation,evacuation,communication,decoration and display,and had emerged new structures such as reinforced concrete structure and steel structure,and new plane form such as curved staircase and parallel double staircase.Most of the evacuation designs of staircases are reasonable.On this basis,five characteristics are summarized: diversity,decoration,science,progressiveness and regionalism.And then the paper reveals the existing problems in the use of staircases,and tries to summarize the solutions,so as to provide reference for the protection and repair practice.The paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part,which mainly describes the background and research objectives of the topic,and combs the relevant current research.By limiting the research object and time,the scope of the follow-up field research is determined.The second chapter mainly studies the regulations of staircases in Guangzhou during the period of the Republic of China.Firstly,it combs the municipal construction management organizations and the regulations issued by them.On this basis,it makes a comparative study of staircase clauses in seven regulations,and analyzes staircase clauses including scale,material,quantity and plane form.Secondly,compared with the staircase clauses of modern Shanghai,Nanjing and the existing regulations,the paper explores the progressiveness and limitations of staircase clauses in the Guangzhou's modern regulations.The third,fourth,fifth chapter is the key chapter of this article.Based on field investigation and literature search,the third,fourth chapter analyzes the staircases in Guangzhou from eight aspects: functions,plane form,plane layout,modeling,structure,scale,space and detail decoration.Based on the analysis of the value of staircases,the fifth chapter reveals the current problems of stairs from the two aspects of safe evacuation and general damage,including insufficient number of stairs,insufficient height of railings,too large spacing between railings columns,the railing problem of stairs against windows,abrasion and cracking of steps and railings,etc.,and tries to provide solutions with specific cases.
