The urban skyline is an important way for people to understand the urban landscape.Through the urban skyline,we can see the most complete and unique urban features of a city,and at the same time,it can also demonstrate the cultural connotation of the city.In recent years,along with the rapid development of various cities,the problem of city image has been paid more and more attention.With the advent of modern urban scientific planning and intelligent management era,rational overall planning,quantitative evaluation criteria and precise control indicators have become the core of urban planning and development,and the quantitative analysis of skyline is one of its contents.However,in the aspect of urban skyline planning,the existing control design guidelines are still uncertain and unclear,there are no objective and accurate quantitative indicators.As a nonlinear geometry theory,fractal theory is used to describe irregular shapes.By using the fractal features of self-similarity of objects,the geometric shapes of natural phenomena can be described as basic elements.The skyline itself is a kind of natural fractal with self-similarity.The introduction of fractal theory into the study of skyline can make an objective and accurate quantitative analysis of skyline.Taking the city skyline of qianjiang new town core district in hangzhou city as an example,this paper makes a quantitative evaluation of its morphological characteristics by means of fractal theory and relevant mathematical methods.By using the method of "counting box dimension",the fractal dimension values of different levels and sections of the skyline at macro,medium and micro levels are calculated,and the fractal dimension values obtained by multi-dimensional comparison are analyzed to analyze the existing problems of the current skyline and their causes.The results of this paper further validate the applicability of fractal theory in urban skyline planning control and design activities.Based on fractal theory,the use of precise data to quantify the skyline analysis research,the dynamic variation of the skyline can be such a subjective elements with intuitive accurate representation of data through the data contrast,fractal dimension values to specific find the problem quickly,and targeted to planning adjustment of the city skyline,introducing fractal dimension value of such a quantitative analysis of indicators to optimize skyline design results quickly and to form accurate decision making.At the same time,quantitative research on the skyline also provides a new entry point for its evaluation and analysis,that is,it provides detailed data evaluation points for reference for the construction of the evaluation system of the skyline,which is helpful to enrich the evaluation system of the urban skyline and guide the design and transformation of the urban skyline.At present,China's cities are in a period of rapid development,and their urban design means and feedback updating mechanism also need to keep up with the pace of urban development.On the one hand,the research method of this paper also provides the possibility for the scientific preparation of urban planning and design guidelines.
