Seeking for singularity is one phenomenon of the chaos in China’s modern architecture praxes. While in the framework of Kensei Engineering, fractal theory has an inherent advantage in identifying human psychological cognition due to its relationship with the basic principles of the structure of matter.Whereas a few existing researches, the potential of fractal theory in the field of environmental psychology is immense. Thus, the research goal is sited as the correlation of fractal with psychological cognitions, for instance, singularity. The three-step framework as ’Fractal value calculation, Quantification of psychological sensation, Correlation calculation’ is made. Theories and methods needed are reviewed. Then studies about the fractal dimension algorithms, the semantic differential method, and canonical correlation analysis are done. Therefore, elevation map classification is done by using these methods to evaluate their applicability in architecture research.The fractal values calculated by Fractalfox software are compared with the psychological cognitions, which are measured by semantic differential questionnaires, to build an evaluation system which could measure human psychological feelings of an architecture graph by the calculation of its fractal values. This evaluation system shows that the fractal dimensions are negative correlated with the level of people’s psychological feeling, vice versa. Then its effectiveness is verified with an exception of inapplicability with buildings with a lot of non-matrix repeated similar sized straight line polygons. Finally, its application scope and method in the practical and theoretical field was summarized.Through this research, the potential of fractal theory in architecture is proved. Furthermore, in addition to assisting design and decision making process, the application of this evaluation system could be automatically identified and used by computer because of its complete digitization. This provides a broad prospect for the development of intelligent design and human computer interaction.The achievements of this paper are one mathematical evaluation system of architecture singularity and visual pleasantness and correlation between some elements of architectural aesthetic evaluation.
