Rural settlements are a variety of forms of human settlements in rural areas.The bottom-up self-organization of traditional rural settlements gives them a natural and organic fractal feature of the planar form.Therefore,this paper takes the planar form of traditional rural settlements in Zhejiang Province as the research object,and taking the fractal geometry as the theoretical basis,it carries out fractal dimension measurement,quantitative analysis and application research on the fractal features of rural settlement plane morphology.This paper is divided into four parts:The first two chapters establish the research framework and sort out the relevant theoretical foundations:they clarify research content,significance and purpose,also demonstrate basic concepts of fractal theory,measurement methods and analytical thinking of fractal analysis.The third chapter focuses on the research of different fractal dimension measurement methods of different settlement plane forms:taking 50 traditional rural settlements in Zhejiang Province as samples,and through the approach of computer programming,the fractal dimension of settlement boundary is measured by the observation scale method,the perimeter-area method and the box-counting method;the fractal dimension of public space in rural settlement is measured by box-counting method;the fractal dimension of buildings in rural settlement is measured by correlation function method.Through the measurement,this chapter explores and implements the key points of each fractal dimension measurement method on the methodological level;and comprehensively uses the mathematical statistics method to summarize and analyze the fractal indicators of settlement plane morphology.Based on the fractal dimension measurement results,the fourth chapter expands the quantitative analysis of the fractal features of settlement plane morphology:it combs and summarizes the corresponding mathematical significance as well as the architectural significance of each fractal indicator;by combining statistical methods and visualization approach,it attempts to construct a quantitative evaluation system for fractal features covering multiple fractal indicators;through the quantitative processing,the clustering distribution of 50 settlement plane patterns based on fractal features is extracted,and the type study is carried out.The fifth chapter focuses on the application level:it introduces the four application fields of fractal indicators in the analytical research of morphology.This paper proposes to use fractal indicators of settlement plane as the data base,extract and construct a organic feature parameter database of traditional rural settlements,providing reference intervals for the formation model of settlement plane based on fractal constructions.This study aims to explore the quantitative method of the plane morphology of traditional rural settlements from the perspective of fractals,providing a rigorous methodological basis and comprehensive evaluation system for the quantitative analysis of settlement plane morphology based on fractal theory,expanding and enriching the quantitative research of settlement morphology,deepening the type research and cognition of settlement planes,as well as providing quantitative guidance and enlightenment for the protection,renewal and continuation of the traditional rural settlement morphology texture at the practical level.
