Conservation And Retrofitting Design Research Of Southern Fujian Universities Stone Masonry Buildings

The stone masonry buildings in southern Fujian universities were studied in this dissertation based on four aspects,such as architectural conservation,use function,engineering technology and economic analysis,a comprehensive framework system for the design of conservation and retrofitting of the stone masonry buildings was establish,the overall ideas and general methods of the protection and the retrofitting were presented in the view of engineering design.Being the products of a specific historical period,the stone masonry buildings in southern Fujian universities are important transitional building types in the transition process of Chinese architecture from traditional mode of construction to modern mode of construction,which contains plentiful value and should be protected and prolonged the service life.On the condition of conservation,the stone masonry buildings could be rationally utilized,its use intensity would be properly improved by methods,such as adjusting the internal space and layout,adopting shared use of the space,continuing the original primary use function,slightly changing original function,etc.The stone masonry buildings could be enhanced in the aspects of anti-seismic performance,comfortability,modernization,and intelligentization,through the engineering technical measures,including strengthening the main building components like the stone walls and reinforced concrete beams,renewing facilities of fire protection,energy saving,accessibility,and intelligentization.The retrofitting of stone masonry buildings could meet the recent usage requirements of the universities,enhance the conditions for teaching,researching,and office works,and benefit the campus culture inheritance.Comparing to the mode of demolish and reconstruction,the conservation and retrofitting of the stone masonry buildings owns slight disadvantage of economic benefits in narrow sense with approximate 3% difference in the cases,but the conservation and retrofitting owns better social and environmental benefits.
