A Study On The Restoration Technology Of Former British Consulate In Swatow

Swatow,due to its special history of opening ports in modern times,has gathered many excellent modern buildings,with profound craftsmanship and far-reaching significance for the development of urban construction.Among them,Former British Consulate,located in Queshi Street,Haojiang District,has been stand out from the crowd because of its unique history and the combination of Chinese and Western construction techniques.However,lacking of effective attention and protection and this precious historical remains are declining.With the restoration of Former Swatow British Consulate,the research results of the dynamic design features provide basic information and reference for the study of the subject,including project design team and construction personnel,other relevant government departments for the construction process of the original craft,repair program adjustments.In this paper,the Restoration Project of British Consulate in Swatow was selected as the study object,mainly using the methods of empirical investigation,classification analysis and practical participation.Based on the research of Swatow area's regional characteristics,materials and construction techniques used in Former Consulate,and through the evaluation of the properties of the heritage and interpretation of historical information,the paper focuses on the repair techniques and practical problems of the cultural relic,and summarizes the applicable conservation and restoration technique of cultural relic buildings.The paper is mainly consists of three parts: introduction,study on architectural history and characteristics,and repair technique.The introduction of the first chapter mainly introduces the study background,purpose and significance,summarizes the current situation,contents and key problems of the study,introduces the research methods of the research,and integrates the research framework of the article.The second chapter is about the study of architectural history and characteristics.Firstly,based on the historical evolution of Former British Consulate,it sorts out the geographical and historical overview,building evolution and business impact of the study object.Then it focuses on the analysis and evaluation of the overall environmental characteristics,spatial composition,architectural technique and characteristic structure of Former British Consulate from the perspective of typology.Finally,on the basis of the above investigation and research on Former British Consulate,it details the phased summary of the value evaluation of each attribute of the cultural relic body,so as to provide clear and accurate guidance for the planning of restoration scheme and repair technology.Chapters 3,4 and 5 focus on the study on the repair of various properties of cultural relics,including roofing,roof truss,wall,foundation and ground.Through the assessment of the main diseases and causes of each structural node Analysis,using the design principles for the protection and repair of cultural relics and buildings as prescribed by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage as a guide to repair,introducing the orientation and main content of the repair program,focusing on the key points of repair technology,the difficulties in the actual construction and the countermeasures,etc.It is hoped that it will play a reference role in the protection and restoration of modern cultural relics in Swatow and even Lingnan in the future.
