Engineering is a material activity that humans consume a lot of manpower and material resources to accomplish grand goals.Engineering implementers need to use rational thinking and systematic methods to achieve engineering goals. This is the objective attribute of engineering essence. As a kind of engineering, architecture is always interfered by too many ideologies and aesthetics, which makes architects often ignore the thinking about the engineering nature of architecture. The author believes that architects should learn from engineering and uphold the necessary rational thinking and systematic methods in architectural design,so as to at least ensure that there are more real existences in the building and less hypocritical plots.Through the conceptual cognition and case analysis of engineering, the paper clarifies what engineering is,which helps to understand the essence of engineering quickly and accurately. Then the author explores and generalizes the objective attributes of the engineering and the constraints of the engineering, which can systematically and comprehensively sort out and clarify the nature of the project.Through the analysis of the unity of architecture and engineering and the unique attributes of architecture,it is possible to form a complete understanding of the architecture and grasp the content of learning from engineering. On the basis of the above analysis, the paper summarize the engineering inspiration for architecture, puts forward the significance of engineering rationality and system thinking to architecture, and proposes that the real and correct design is the basic way to realize the "beauty" architecture. At the end of the paper, through the analysis of specific cases,it proves that architects should learn from engineering.
