At present, the state attaches great importance to the rural issues, and has issued many related policies to improve the living quality and living environment in rural areas. The understanding of environmental issues by the nation and its citizens has also risen to a whole new level. As a very traditional building material,"raw soil" again draws attention to the people for its superior performance, low cost on material and construction.Firstly, the first chapter studies the status quo of raw soil construction in the western part of Henan Province and the status of typical rural housing in the region. With reference to the research status of domestic and foreign raw soil construction, this chapter analyzes and researches the current status of raw soil construction and living needs in the region, and then mainly divided them into three types, they are pit house type,semi-cliffs type and ground type.Secondly, the second chapter studies the related theories of raw soil construction based on the research achievements and current situation of scholars at home and abroad.Through research methods such as access to data, analysis and research, and comparison, this chapter investigates and researches the status quo and living needs of raw soil buildings in the western part of Henan Province, especially the Shicun Village in Yiyang County and Beiying Village in Sanmenxia City. Then it gets the existing characteristics of the raw soil construction in this region, that is: small scale, scattered parts, low industrialization, low acceptance and so on.Based on the results of the survey,it was concluded that the raw soil construction in the west of Henan Province needs to be reconstructed, they are ventilation and lighting problem, house layout problem, garage problem and entrance problem.Thirdly, based on the above summary and survey results, the third chapter studies the modern applicability reform of raw soil construction for the three typical types of raw soil buildings in the region. This paper divides the transformation into two parts: the transformation of building technology and the living environment and aesthetic transformation. This paper puts forward three kinds of lighting and ventilation reform programs for raw soil construction: add courtyard to the back of the cave, add a patio betweenthe two caverns, and set a patio in the cave. The three programs have different advantages and disadvantages for different transformation needs. In view of the problem of lighting and ventilation in building technology, the lighting system of "backyard plus courtyard" with no electric lighting system is designed, which effectively improves the lighting problem within the raw soil construction. In addition, this paper aims at the reconstruction of the joint structure encountered in the above transformation process: the waterproof structure of the barrier wall at the “after-garden” at the pit hall is reformed and designed;“concave” steel plate joint is designed for the intersection of the raw soil wall and the roof to improve the bearing capacity of the raw soil wall and the ability of waterproofing and anti-corrosion;the waterproofing of the lower part of the raw soil wall is designed.Fourthly,in the fourth chapter, with the use of ECOTECT and REVIT and other building energy-saving calculation software, the ventilation and lighting transformation simulation was carried out in the Beiying Village Pit House in Shanzhou District of Sanmenxia City. Then compare and analyze the simulation results to verify and enrich the research conclusions.
