The aging of population has always been in the spotlight all over the world.At present,China's urbanization is developing at a high speed,with a large number of rural population migrating.That causes rural hollowing and the increase of empty nesters.In addition,the living environment and facilities of empty nesters in rural areas are relatively simple and rough without unified planning,resulting in many problems existing in their residence.In order to improve the quality of their life,the living environment of the empty nester in rural areas need improving.Through the investigation of the psychological and physiological condition of the empty nesters,it found that the current living environment can no longer meet their living needs.By studying their needs in psychology,function and regional cultural,their real needs in living space can be acquired.Under the guidance of livable and humanized design concept,the reasonable design of the living space of rural empty nesters can alleviate problem of unattended elderly.This paper is composed of three parts.First,it briefly explains the research background and purpose of the rural empty nesters' living space,and proposes innovations that combine humanized design concepts with regional culture.Secondly,by investigating the status quo of the empty nesters' living space in Dayuzhuang Village,Huangliangmeng Town,Handan City,combining the humanized design concept,it puts forward design principles of safety,functionality and adaptability in the transformation of the rural empty nesters' residence.Finally,by visiting and investigating Dayuzhuang Village in Huangliangmeng Town,two representative residences are selected for reform and practice.It is expected that Dayuzhuang Village,Huangliangmeng Town,Handan City can an example to provide references for designing more secure,comfortable and livable living space with empty nesters in rural North China.
