Research On The Waterscape In Western Classical Gardens

Waterscape is an important part of the garden,often regarded as the soul of the garden.From the point of view of water management mode of western classical gardens,this paper makes a systematic and in-depth study and analysis on the application mode of its water features with the axis of time as the research thread.By using the methods of literature study,inductive analysis and case analysis,this paper explores the characteristics and techniques of waterscape construction in western classical gardens in different historical periods.The research scope includes the water features of classical gardens in ancient Egypt,ancient Babylon,ancient Greece,ancient Rome,Italy,France,Britain and other countries and regions.From the perspective of landscape architecture,this paper sorts out the waterscape development course of western classical gardens from its origin,formation,development to maturity.The waterscape of these gardens in different regions presents different style characteristics in different periods,and the water management methods of these different styles influence and learn from each other in different forms and approaches,thus forming a huge system of waterscape of the whole western classical gardens.This paper takes Italian waterscape,French waterscape and English waterscape as the main object of study,extracts the most representative gardens in different periods and regions,and analyzes the style and characteristics of water management with examples.This paper analyzes the influence of topography,architecture,plants and road leading on waterscape of western classical gardens,and the way of combining waterscape construction with garden elements.Finally summed up the western classical garden waterscape evolution law,form from simple to rich,function from basic to diverse,application from single to combination,layout from local to the whole,craft from shallow to exquisite.The evolution of waterscape in western classical gardens is based on economy,synchronized with aesthetics,combined with plants and animals,and coordinated with natural conditions.This paper hopes that through the research on the waterscape construction and application of western classical gardens,it will help people to further understand the water management art of western classical gardens and understand the law of its formation and evolution.Then better to learn,rather than without thinking and combining with reality,blindly copying western classical garden waterscape,for our contemporary garden waterscape construction to provide beneficial reference.
