Water-rail intermodal hubs are the link between transportation modes. The cost and operating efficiency of the intermodal network are affected by the location and number of the hubs, which also determine the distribution of transport routes.Optimizing the location and life-cycle management of the water-rail intermodal hubs are the key to give play to the scale effect of the intermodal network.which is conducive to better design of the transportation network, reduce the total operating cost, and has a positive effect on the development of China's water-rail intermodal transportation. On the basis of sorting out and summarizing the existing literature research perspectives and methods, this paper focuses on the analysis of the development of the domestic and foreign water-rail intermodal transportation. Then this paper analyzes the infrastructure conditions of China's water-rail intermodal transportation development from water and railway transportation. At the same time, combing with the operation and organization mode of the water-rail intermodal hub,the paper analyzes the influencing factors of the location of the intermodal hub in detail, and draws on the research results of the predecessors in the academic circle.Which lays the foundation for the construction of the location model. In the part of location optimization model construction, taking the hub and spoke network theory as the basis for the design of water-rail intermodal network. The internal modeling mechanism of hub location is analyzed in detail. Then,a multi-objective location optimization model of water-rail intermodal hub is constructed, which takes the minimum total cost of transportation network and the minimum carbon emission as the objective functions. At the same time, the model takes into account constraints such as the number of intermodal hubs, transportation time, and transportation routes. Finally, considering the intractability of the multi-objective model,a carbon tax mechanism is introduced to simplify the model.According to the characteristics of the model and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of different algorithms,Tabu Search algorithm is selected to solve the model.Combining the model and the solving algorithm,a verification example is designed, and the basic data and parameter values are reasonably determined.According to the example, the location of the intermodal hub is optimized, and the transportation plan of each node is determined. On this basis, the optimization results in different situations are compared. Finally, the influence of key parameters of the model on the optimization results is analyzed. The results show that compared with direct transportation, the hub and spoke intermodal transport network can obtain significant scale effects and cost savings. When carbon emissions are taken into account, total network cost savings is reduced. After the location of the water-rail intermodal hub is determined,it will enter life-cycle stage of the intermodal hub such as the project approval, design and construction.Based on the basic concepts of BIM technology and the whole life-cycle,the characteristics of the water-rail intermodal hub project and the current construction management mode are introduced. Then, considering the problems existing in the construction management mode, the feasibility and advantages of applying BIM technology to the whole life-cycle management of the hub are proposed. Finally, the overall framework and application process of BIM technology applied to the whole life-cycle management of water-rail intermodal hubs are designed, then an example is given to illustrate its application.
