Polyethylene(PE)pipes have obvious advantages in construction connection,air tightness of pipeline system and service cycle.Since 1960 s,the developed countries have used polyethylene pipes to transport natural gas on a large scale.The research of polyethylene gas pipeline in China started late in the early 1980 s,but it has developed rapidly.At present,the quality inspection of PE welding joint mainly depends on appearance inspection and pressure test.The former is very human oriented,while the latter can only test the current air tightness of the pipeline,and neither of the two methods can see the internal connection of the welded junction.Nondestructive testing technology has become a research and application direction in the quality inspection of polyethylene welded joints.In this paper,the application of ultrasonic phased array testing technology in the nondestructive testing of polyethylene welded joints is studied and discussed.Combined with engineering cases,the inspection results are analyzed,and the applicability of the detection method is proposed.
