High-speed railway dispatcher is the conductor of high-speed trains,whose job performance will directly affect the operation efficiency and safety of high-speed railway.Personality as an important fact affecting job performance,analyzing its influence on job performance of high-speed railway dispatcher can further enhance the safety of railway transportation.This article collected personality and job performance data,combined with personality and job performance theory,and adopted relevant statistical methods to investigate the impact of personality on job performance through a survey of high-speed railway dispatchers in Chengdu railway bureau dispatching office.The main researches are as follows:(1)Through Pearson correlation analysis to investigate the relationship of demographic variables,personality and job performance found that: the older or the longer dispatching experience high-speed railway dispatchers got,the higher extraversion,agreeableness,conscientiousness,openness,the lower neuroticism in personality they possessed.Although age didn't affect job performance,the longer dispatching experience they got,the better task performance and job dedication they showed.The higher education they occupied,the better interpersonal facilitation they showed.The results indicated that age,dispatching experience,and education were the factors that impacted personalities and job performance.(2)Through Pearson correlation analysis to investigate the relationship of personality and job performance found that: the higher extraversion or lower neuroticism high-speed railway dispatchers possessed,the better task performance,interpersonal facilitation,job dedication and total performance they showed.The higher agreeableness and conscientiousness they possessed,the better task performance,interpersonal facilitation,and total performance they showed.The results indicated that extraversion,agreeableness,conscientiousness impacted job performance positively,but neuroticism impacted job performance negatively.(3)Through hierarchical regression analysis to investigate the prediction function of personality on job performance found that: high-speed railway dispatchers' age,dispatching experience,extraversion and conscientiousness had prediction function on task performance.Age,dispatching experience,agreeableness,conscientiousness,and neuroticism had prediction function on interpersonal facilitation.Extraversion had prediction function on job dedication.Age,dispatching experience,extraversion,conscientiousness,and neuroticism had prediction function on total performance.The results indicated that personalities had predictive effectiveness on job performance.The research findings can provide theoretical basis for more scientifically and standardized selecting,training,managing high-speed railway dispatchers,and further improve operation safety of high-speed railway system.
