This project is about design and manufacture process of the air intake system for the FSAE car.Over the years,much of the design of this system had been carried out through an iterative trial-and-error process,so the study attempts to identify the scientific and engineering principles pertaining to the design of this system.The intake system is being sub-divided to various components,and the relevant principles will be discussed.According to the requirement of the FSAE rules,every universities team must install a restrictor on their intake system the diameter must be less than 20 mm.Engine Yaxiang LD450 been used.It is a Chinese made single cylinder gasoline engine.For the simulation AVL Boost software were used to predict the result.According to the analysis results,we use the FLUENT module of ANSYS to analyze the inlet flow field of the cavity,thus providing a basis for improving the intake performance of the engine.Performance can be improved by reducing pressure losses in the intake system.Fused Deposition Modeling is used to create an intake system and then covered in layers of carbon fiber composite through vacuum bagging.As a result of this approach,the geometry of the intake system has been redesigned to reduced weight and increased power and torque through RPM.This case study presents a low-cost of manufacturing functional parts through the combination of FDM and composite material laminates.
