Green development is the basic requirement of the current national urban construction.Improving the utilization rate of resources is an important means of green development.Containers have the characteristics of high structural strength,large space capacity,convenient transportation and installation.In this paper,the use of containers as building functions has been studied to provide guidance for the reuse of waste containers.Combining with the actual situation of construction and development of Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing,this paper provides relevant exploration on how to build container buildings to meet the requirements of temporary supporting buildings in the new area.Firstly,through the research and investigation of relevant literature and cases at home and abroad,the basic specifications of containers,the mode of space composition and combination,as well as the strong characteristics of container construction,such as industrialization of production,formalization of steel frames,construction and assembly,modularization of units and recyclability,are sorted out.Secondly,through the study of the development and application process of container building,the main points of container building design are summarized: the overall thinking should be emphasized in the design procedure,the modular combination should be emphasized in the design method,and the artistic expression should be emphasized in the facade design.Five design principles of container building design are put forward: modular principle of construction unit,flexible principle of unit combination,priority principle of applicable function,artistic principle of form combination and high efficiency principle of construction process.Thirdly,the module division and setting of container building design are studied.The characteristics of modularization and how to pay attention to the relationship with function,environment and human comfort in modularization combination of box are studied.According to the basic size of the box,the functional modules are classified into five categories: living module,office module,business module,public facilities module and professional housing module.The accessory system needed in modular combination is set into four categories: staircase,canopy,platform and floor.Fourthly,the container combination strategy of container building is studied.Three basic principles of box assembly,seven combination modes of module assembly and three strategies of box assembly are summarized.Finally,taking the case of how to use container buildings to meet the needs of temporary supporting buildings in Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing as an example,this paper makes an empirical test on the above research.The research of container building is a system engineering,not only a problem of architectural design,but also a problem of recycling and reusing of the container.It also needs the linkage of related supporting policies.At the same time,because the container is transformed from the function of loading cargo to the function of building use,the related structures of thermal engineering,equipment and facilities will be different from other buildings,which is different from other buildings.These are all parts that need to be studied extensively.
