Engine is often compared to the "heart" of aircraft, which is the power source of the aircraft's operation process. However,in recent years, engine failure occurs frequently, and engine off in flight has become one of the three major incident of civil aviation in China.Although the aircraft can achieve one-engine landing, the pilot's emergency response is critical,a slight error may cause aircrash damage and death.Eye tracking technology can reflect the pilots' visual behavior characteristics instantly. Therefore, this paper analyses the pilots' eye movement behavior in one-engine failure situation from the perspective of eye movement, and explores the evidence of pilots' cognitive behavior in emergencies. The research is based on the Diamond DA42 Twin Star simulator of Chaoyang Flight College,CAUC,to establish experimental platform, combined with Eyeso Glasses Eye Tracker.20 subjects who are selected from pilots and instructors of Chao yang Flight College participate in the one-engine failure test in the last approaching stage, recording their eye movement data and the flight data. The response time, fault handling time and flight data are taken as the parameters to measure the performance of the subjects. Then the subjects are divided into two groups: group A with better performance and group B with worse performance. The changes of eye movement indicators such as gaze frequency, average fixation time, the proportion of fixation time, average scanning length and average scanning speed after one-engine failure are counted, and the differences of eye movement indexes before and after one-engine failure between the two groups are compared and analyzed. Then, the Primary Flight Display is divided into areas of interest and an attention distribution visualization platform is developed to visualize eye movement data, and analyzing the difference of attention distribution before and after one-engine failure between two groups with different performance. The conclusion of this study is as follows:1.Normally,Group A subjects with better performance have more frequent gaze, shorter average gaze duration, larger gaze duration ratio, longer average scan length and faster scan speed.2.After one-engine failure, the eye movement indexes of the two groups showed the same trend: after one-engine failure, the gaze frequency, the average scanning length and the average scanning speed increased significantly, and the average fixation time and the proportion of fixation time decreased significantly;while after one-engine failure, the degree of changes of eye movement indexes of the two groups are different.3.After one-engine failure,Group A subjects with better performance could quickly change their gaze mode to reply the emergency, and the top-down attention-driven mechanism play a leading role;while subjects in Group B with worse performance, those bottom-up attention-driven mechanism play a leading role after one-engine failure, and their attention behavior are passive.Their attention resource is excessively concentrated in the areas of attitude indicator and heading indicator, and the proportion of fixation time in the two areas accounted for 78.4% of the total.
