Ship-bridge collisions are happening frequently due to the development of bridges and ships.The academia and industry are concerning about protections of ship-bridge collisions.As a result,how to use anti-collision fender devices to reduce the huge loss caused by ship-bridge collisions has important practical significance.After summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of current mainstream anti-collision methods and devices,the paper designs a controllable fender by using magnetorheological elastomer(MRE),and tests the performance of the MRE fender by the finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA.The main research work of the paper is as follows:1)The paper proposes the concept of intelligent control fender.2)The paper analyzes the process of different ships impacting pier,uses the simplified stiffness model of collision system and principle of energy conversion to confirm the relationship between fender impact depth and system stiffness.The paper analyses the microscopic and the microscopic-macro constitutive behaviors of the MRE after discussing the old constitutive behaviors,prepares the anisotropic and isotropic MREs with different iron content,and tests their mechanical properties.The paper designs a controllable MRE fender and tests the static mechanical properties of the fender.The paper simulates various working conditions of anisotropic MRE fender by the finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA,optimizes fender structures and evaluates the performance of the fender.3)The paper summarizes the full text and discusses the future works.
