With the development of wind energy market,more and more self-elevating wind turbine installation platforms are developed home and aboard.This 800 t self-elevating wind turbine installation platform is designed by domestic design institute which is with leg-round main crane and possess advantage over traditional platform on bigger lifting range and working load.This kind of design method is pioneering in our country.This paper focuses on operating modes of transit condition,survival condition,operating condition and preload condition to investigate the structural strength of hull and legs.Due to the difference between floating and standing state,the calculation method is analyzed and discussed to provide technical reference for further research.In this paper not only structural FEA model but also hydrodynamic model is created for different conditions.Hydrodynamic load is calculated before FEA analysis.The results of calculation are checked for yield and buckling strength according to classification rules.The main results are as follows:1)Introduce the wind energy market and justify the need of self-elevating wind turbine installation platform and main equipment.2)Discuss the operation procedure and loads of the platform,list and summarize the loads of different condition of this platform suffers.3)Predict the hydrodynamic load for the transit condition of this platform and calculate the design wave,hull structure are checked for yield and buckling strength according to rules,leg structure is performed rule check.4)Calculate the inertial load and P-△ load for the survival,operating and preload condition of this platform,hull and leg structure are checked for yield andbuckling strength according to rules after FEA analysis.The research results of this paper can be the summary of strength analysis of self-elevating wind turbine installation platform,which can be helpful for design and optimization of future self-elevating wind turbine installation platform.
