Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that can continue to regenerate and comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale.In renewable energy,Wind power is now an important part of the new energy strategy.Wind energy has several advantages over other renewable energy sources,for example,the construction of new wind farm is less destructive to the environment and ecology,construction costs are relatively low and can recover the construction fees in the short term.Now countries all over the world,the total wind energy production is growing rapidly and the size of the wind turbine is also getting bigger and bigger.This study is about the levelized cost of energy(COE)of the Single permanent magnet generator drive train and direct drive drive train.COE is total life cycle costs including power system require components and equipment,installation,operation and maintenance and disposal costs.Comparison of the COE of wind power and other renewable or non renewable energy COE can prove the competitiveness of wind power in terms of cost.The advantages of wind power and the need of new wind farm can be evaluated according to the difference of COE.Calculate COE using the spreadsheet format model tools which include COE calculation method for different drive trains.Component quality calculation method and cost calculation method based on the size of wind turbine components have been entered in the model.Designers can use the rated power and other approximate design plan to do wind power COE simulation.The simulation calculation can compare the difference of the cost between different drive trains.Designers can also get detailed cost such as the size and cost of the wind turbine components,wind farm equipment cost,operation and maintenance costs,etc.To determine the best solution to reduce the COE,wind turbine designers can look for the appropriate drive train,improvements in the design of wind power systems and the effect of design improvement on total cost and the impact on other projects through simulation results.The model is used to simulate the wind turbine with 2 driving mechanisms and 5 rated power.The lowest energy cost of wind power generation system is obtained according to the design parameters of the wind turbine.And the calculation results are used to design the life cycle cost of the 50 MW wind farm.According to the design scheme,the cost of the equipment with the lowest total cost of the wind farm and the optimum design parameters can be obtained.
