With the increasing emphasis on global warming and climate disasters caused by climate in the world,it is also a serious threat to people security of product and life.It is become the urgent challenges and problems to urban planning experts and urban manager how to deal with dramatic changes in the climate in the large cities,especially storm water flood,drought,snow and ice.To provide the city with the elasticity of defense and enable the urban to accommodate various types of urban disaster also is the urban designer's mission.Under this background,the concept of sponge cities in our country is proposed.Sponge city is not only a strategy to response to climate and urban hydrology,but also change the city from hard and structural to ecology,soft.The combination of sponge city and LID technology can effectively solve the problem of urban road drainage;adapt to environmental changes,deal with heavy rain floods and other natural disasters.It can protect the urban water ecological environment in greatest degree.In this context,take Ming Lake Square in Yingkou Coastal Industrial base for example.We reviewed low impact development in the world and related theory of eco-city and sponge urban.We also analyzed the combination of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden visitor center case,Zhejiang Jinhua dovetail Island Park Design and Harbin Qunli rain hung Park design.Based on the theory and realities,we studied natural conditions,climate and ecological conditions,and features of the social and economic development in Yingkou area.In this thesis we determined the important position of Zhongming lake square in Yingkou Coastal Industrial Base planning.We suggested the planning and design objectives of the Ming Lake Plaza for strengthening the protection and comprehensive utilization of water ecosystem,and improving the resilience of the water ecosystem,enhancing the development model of low impact.Under the guidance of the design objectives,we proposed the design strategies of the integration of environment regionalization,nature and landscape,architecture,and strengthening the overall landscape and local landscape organic linkage.In this thesis,the conceptual design were proposed from the construction scale,the construction content and the construction technology.Ming Lake Square and the surface area of the lake were regarded as integration.Under the overall sponge urban planning framework,we provided design methods and technical specifications in road system,landscape system,green space system,ecological parking space and storm water management system.With this research,we provided useful theoretical and practical reference for the construction of the city's waterfront plaza in northern China.
