Research On Lightscape In The Public Space Of Urban Plazas

As open outdoor facilities for civilians,urban plazas are the reflections of material and spiritual civilizations of the society.However,there still exists many problems on practices of urban plazas currently.Researches on soundscape,fragrance-scape and landscape from different angles have made effects.The fruits of these researches have actually enhanced people’s living environment.Lightscape is also an important component of an urban plaza.It examines and studies on living light environments in a wider horizon.The urban design focusing on lightscape could not only decrease light pollutions’ negative effects on people,but also provide more comfort on human settlements.The article aims at creating lightscapes meeting people’s mental demands.It starts with lightscape assessments on urban open spaces,taking lightscape of Flower City Plaza in Guanzghou as reference,to investigate urban plaza lightscape experience on people and people’s preference on lightscape.Based on results of site surveys and questionnaires,a route map of roaming in lightscapes is established.Besides that,optimizations are suggested so as to improve the current condition.(1)Prophase preparation.Firstly,research contents and methods are confirmed through researches on lightscape and related disciplines.Secondly,survey contents and purposes are confirmed.Besides that,survey plans are formulating,including selection of survey sites,analysis on lightscape status,designing and testing questionnaires,site survey and questionnaire distributions etc.(2)Analysis of subjective assessment of overall lightscapes of Flower City Plaza.I start with studies on importance of lightscape.Secondly,I study on comfort of lightscape which give emphasize on investigating the lightscapes’ effects on users as well as relativity among users,light environment factors and lightscape comfort.Thirdly,I study on users’ preferences on lightscape to investigate the differences between them.Finally,I analyze and conclude from the research findings mentioned above.Satisfaction analysis of part of the lightscape.The satisfaction surveys of Taohua Island,Music Light Fountain and Guangzhou Tower werecarried out respectively,and the user’s feelings and influences were analyzed from four aspects: space enclosure,landscape composition,line of sight and light environment.(3)Analysis of satisfactions on lightscapes in particular parts of Flower City Plaza.I will at first research on satisfactions of Taohua island,Music-Lamp Fountain and Guangzhou Tower.Then I would analyze on users’ experience and effects from four aspects including spatial enclosure,lightscape composition,vision angle and light environment.(4)Roaming in lightscapes and optimizations of lightscape design.Based on research results,I proposed the concept of roaming in lightscapes and establish a route map of roaming in the lightscapes of Flower City Plaza for experiencing and testing lightscapes.On the basis of site survey results,problems on current lightscape status are dig out and optimizations are suggested in order to give guidance on practices of lightscapes in urban plazas and thus achieve the value of scientific research achievements...
