Influence Of Soundscape On Mental Stress Relief Of Urban Green Space And Its Application

Nowadays,with the acceleration of the urbanization,urban pollution is becoming increasingly serious and people are getting away from the natural environment.The intense working atmosphere and fast pace of life bring people great mental pressure and people's mental problems emerge one after another.A number of studies have shown that urban green space plays an important role in mental stress relief.It has become a new requirement for urban green space design for the common people to improve health level by giving full play to the role of urban green space in relieving mental stress.Most the previous studies on soundscape were focused on exploring the mental relief effect of a certain soundscape,and seldom considered the influence of the interaction between the soundscape and the visual landscape on the mental stress relief.Therefore,this paper discusses the effect of the interaction between soundscape and visual landscape on the mental stress relief effect in urban green space.In this way,theoretical guidance can be provided for the design method aiming at improving the easing effect of the mental stress relief of urban green space.The main contents are as follows:1?Taking Xuzhou city green space as the research object,totally eight sample sites were selected to represent the urban green space as the research object.Besides,eight videos were taken to reflect the key landscape features in these sites,respectively.These videos were combined with five sounds.These sounds included single birdsong,multi birdsong,croak,flowing water sound and classical Chinese music.In this study,undergraduates were invited to evaluate all the mental stress relief effect of urban green space.2?Selecting eight panorama pictures corresponding to video content and five postgraduates were asked to quantify the landscape characteristics of sample sites so as to explore the driving force of landscape characteristics on mental stress relief effect of soundscape.Through the SPSS17.0 correlation and stepwise linear regression analysis.Based on the above research,we explore the driving force of landscape characteristics on soundscape mental stress relief effect.So as to provide new ideas and guidance for urban green space design including soundscape with the aim of relieve stress.The main conclusions of the study are:1?Generally,adding single birdsong and classic Chinese music to urban green space can obviously improve the mental stressrelief effect of urban green space.However,the flowing water sound and croak in urban green space can reduce the mental stress relief effect of urban green space.2?Introducing single birdsong or multi-species birdsong to the landscape containing flatter terrain will enhance the mental stress relief effect of urban green space.3?In the landscape design,we should not only choose the right sound,but also choose the right appliance site for the sound.We should fully consider the characteristics of the site,in order to achieve the twice as much can be accomplished with half the effort.
