The Elastic Ring Squeeze Film Damper(ERSFD)combines the advantages of the traditional Squeeze Film Damper(SFD)and elastic support,and its structure is more compact.However,the oil film of ERSFD is more complicated,and the research on the mechanism of ERSFD is still not very clear.In order to further clarify its dynamic mechanism,the following research work has been carried out in this paper:(1)By means of UG and computational fluid dynamics software carried out numerical modeling and simulation calculation of traditional SFD.And mesh independence,time independence and accuracy of calculation results were verified.Based on theoretical analysis and numerical simulation,the dynamic characteristics of SFD considering the inertial force of the oil film is studied and compared with the dynamic characteristics when the inertial force of the oil film is ignored.It is found that the oil film stiffness reduces and the oil film damping increases when the inertial force of the oil film exists.(2)By means of the ANSYS Workbench simulation platform,the bidirectional fluid-solid interaction numerical solution model of ERSFD is established based on the bidirectional fluid-solid coupling principle and dynamic mesh technology.The simulation study on ERSFD is carried out when the inner and outer bosses of the elastic ring are both in contact.It is found that the outer oil film makes more contribution to the stiffness,and the inner oil film makes more contribution to the damping.It can be seen that the relatively small inner oil film clearance and the relatively large outer oil film clearance are beneficial to increase the oil film damping and restrain the nonlinearity of oil film stiffness.As the width,height,number,or elastic modulus of the elastic ring boss increases,both the inner and outer oil film stiffness and damping increase.(3)According to the other operating conditions of the elastic ring,the dynamic characteristics of ERSFD were studied.The results show that in the case of one-side contact of the elastic ring,the stiffness and damping of the oil film are mainly provided by the oil film which is not contacted on one side.Both inner and outer oil films can provide oil film stiffness and damping,and the outer oil film is more rigid,and the inner oil film is more damped when the elastic ring is floating;as the width or elastic modulus of the elastic ring boss increases,both the inner and outer oil film stiffness and damping increase.The above studies provide a reference for the design,use and maintenance of SFD and ERSFD.
