The Applied Research On The Design Of Liao Dynasty Buddhist Art In Chaoyang Meditation Center

This article is to explore the requirements of integrating Liao Dynasty Buddhist art and local characteristics with the modern Meditation Center’s design.The purpose of the Meditation Center is to provide the modern person with the space to attain a satisfactory meditation experience without breaking the original geographical features,all while integrating into the local human and natural environment.At the same time,it is an important symbol of regional cultural circulation,which emphasizes comfortability,scientificity and the creative expression of local principles.Especially in the functional service,the meditation center provides vegetarian culture,health,tea ceremony,fragrant road,flower arrangement,meditation,copying,and Sanskrit,and displays Buddhist art objects.The content is rich,and the meditation experience of the zen participants is increased through various channels.Firstly,this article aims to define the concept of the Meditation Center and how it relates to Zen Buddhism,Zen and meditation.Secondly,it will elaborate on the art of Liao Dynasty Buddhism and the ideas behind it.The qualitative research method is used to conduct on-the-spot observation of research objects,interactive experience,and overall analysis and summary by the literature research,case studies,field investigations,etc..Through analyzing the current meditation centers design methods,one can conclude it exhibits both strength in design principle and strategy,as well as flaws.Examples of these strengths include the design symbols and elements of the Liao Dynasty dragon and Miyun Tower,which are quoted in the structure of the main building at the Meditation Center.The Liao Dynasty dragon relief pattern which is on the facade of the Chaoyang North Towers is applied to the interior decoration by styling.Finally,based on the Buddhist architecture,painting,and statues of the Liao Dynasty,combined with the overall situation of Chaoyang Phoenix Mountain Meditation Center,the Chaoyang Meditation Center with the characteristics of Liao Dynasty Buddhist art is created.
