The fringe area of the big city is the frontier area of urban external expansion and land use,and it is also a special geographical space with dramatic changes, mixed functions and broken land.Because the fringe area is located in a special location in the interlaced zone between urban and rural areas, its land use pattern, property rights, user interests, and development models all present between"urban and rural" and complex and diverse.Since the reform and opening up,China has maintained a relatively fast urbanization speed. However,in the practice of urbanization, there are also many problems. From the gap between population and land urbanization to the blind construction under the leadership of the government, mamny chaos in development have forced us to re-understand and rethink China's urbanization process. With the release of huge production and consumption demand since the 1990s,the demographic dividend has gradually disappeared, and the local debt crisis has become more and more serious. The traditional "large-scale" and"extensive" urban expansion models are facing the urgent demands of transformation and adjustment. As in the forefront of urban construction, the urban fringe area has become a key area for diversified and complex development, and its geographical nature and connotation also have a cognitive renewal trend. This paper takes research into the Yuhuatai District of Nanjing, which is the District-level geography on the edge of large city, and analyzes the regional spatial evolution process and mechanism of Yuhuatai District over 30 years. In the third chapter, this paper first summarizes the characteristics of the spatial power model in the urban fringe areas of the United States,France,India and China. It is found that the spatial evolution of urban fringe areas in different countries has large differences in form and function, and it is considered to be at large scale. In the study of the fringe area, the power structure of the main body and system such as government structure and power, marketization degree, system and resident demand can explain the spatial development characteristics of different urban fringe areas in different countries. In the fourth chapter, this paper analyzes the characteristics of spatial geography and power subject evolution in the Yuhuatai District of Nanjincg, which is the fringe area of a typical large-scale city in China.Through the analysis of the spatial form, economic geography and subjective behavior of Yuhuatai District in three time periods, this paper believes that there are both universal spatial rules and unique local spatial features in the spatial evolution process of Yuhuatai District. The analysis of its evolutionary mechanism requires a more favorable framework for interpretation. In the fifth chapter, this paper establishes a four-step analysis framework of "power subject-game process-space behavior ability-specific content" in the spatial evolution of urban fringe area, and analyzes the mechanism of the three-stage spatial content in Yuhuatai District. The paper points out that in the local government-led space construction and land public ownership in China, this spatial analysis framework which revolves around bureaucratic inter-governmental power relations and encompasses local characteristics with spatial behavioral capabilities, have good explanatory power for different marginal regions in different regions of China. In summary, this paper believes that in the spatial development of the marginal zone, there is a certain phenomenon that the interaction law of spatial subject coexists with the occasional development factors such as system and history. This makes the study of urban fringe areas in different periods, locations and institutional environments often lead to different conclusions, and also makes the study of marginal areas often rely on the mastery of "local knowledge".Based on the characteristics of space power, this paper establishes a four-step analysis framework, and proves its explanatory power through the practice verification of the model of the small-scale typical Chinese urban fringe area in Yuhuatai District,Nanjing. The whole thesis contains about 85000 words,118 pictures and charts.
