With the development of the city construction,as an important part of the urban street landscape, the conflict between the old facade and the new one is becoming more and more obvious. The truth that have a beautiful view ofthe facades which belong to buildings along the street in modern period of China plays a significant role making a harmonious image of the city has also been widely recognized. In various cities, although the neatness and unity have been improved in the renovation practice of the street facades in modern period of China, the problem of "looks unlike" often causes criticism.Different tectonic methods between modern architecture and traditional Chinese wooden architecture make it possible to make the facade complex and changeable. From the perspective of visual perception and aesthetics, combined with the influence of tectonic theory to the expressions of facade, this paper obtains the control factors and tectonic relationships that determine the style of the facade, and provides new evaluation criteria and guidance for the future practice of renovation of the facade of buildings along the street in modern period of China. The second chapter of this paper made a historical background analysis of commercial buildings along the street, and divided commercial buildings into two types:normal commercial buildings and arcade buildings. The author summarized various types of facade of normal commercial buildings and arcade buildings based on different combinations of elements. The third chapter of the thesis is about theories, and establishes the relationship between visual perception and the facade along the street.Chapter IV discussed the differences between the traditional "Interface of Eaves" and the western facades based on different materials, and ultimately affects the images of facade.Secondly, the author makes a summary about how the western architectures design facades of classical architectures.People and architectures always ignore the tectonic theory behind the facade, because they compose stereoscopic elements to make a pattern.Thirdly it introduces the development of architectural evaluation theory in the nineteenth century and its influence on the architecture at that time and the architecture evaluation theory today. Then the author divided the depth of Facade construction into two systems rely on visual perception and tectonic theoriesChapter V take the two systems as the research object wlich mentioned above, figuring out the tectonic logic betw een the beams, pillars and walls,as well as the intersection of other elements on the facade. The modulus of brick and single-handed elevation is introduced to discuss the relationship of all the elements which can help facade obtain a good visual experience by following tectonic theories. The sixth chapter combines positive and negative regeneration cases to verify the conclusion which drawn earlier on the one hand, and emphasizes the importance of the construction concept behind the form on the other. The whole thesis contains about 50767 words,74 pictures and charts.
