| Water is a necessity of life, and water resources have an important impact on people’s lives and national economic development. With the development of social economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, the problem of water shortage is getting more and more attention in the world.Research on water-saving behavior of rural residents can also promote the economic, social and cultural development of rural areas while slowing the rate of increase in farmers’ water demand. Therefore,in the context of saving water and building a water-saving society,it is of great practical significance to study the water-saving behavior of rural residents. On the basis of carefully reading the research literature on water use and water-saving behavior at home and abroad, this paper pre-examines the investigation of Sichuan Province in depth, and deeply understands the rural social economy, water supply and water-saving status, laying a theoretical foundation for the full text.Based on the previous research, the rural residents in Chengdu were selected as the research object, and the empirical research data were collected by means of literature research, household interviews and questionnaires.Using descriptive analysis to understand the current situation of rural residents’ water saving behavior in Sichuan Province, using binary Logistic regression model and multiple linear regression model to analysis the factors affecting the selective water saving behavior and habitual water saving behavior of rural residents and their influence relationship.Based on the conclusions of empirical analysis,it proposes to build a water-saving society in rural areas of Chengdu, and provides a theoretical basis for relevant government departments to formulate relevant policies.Based on the study of water saving behavior of rural residents in Chengdu, this paper draws the following main conclusions:1.The benefits of rural water improvement in Chengdu are not good.Although the rural water benefit rate and the tap water benefit rate continue to increase, residents’ satisfaction with water quality and water supply services is generally not high. Most villagers reflect that the quality of tap water is too poor or the tap water supply sector lacks personnel management issues;2.The local government departments lack of relevant publicity and education on water resources, and many residents have expressed misunderstanding of water resources. For example, many rural residents believe that water resources are inexhaustible;3.The proportion of rural residents who are willing to purchase water-saving appliances or adopt water-saving behavior is too low,and at the same time,a few residents cannot identify whether they are purchasing water-saving appliances;4.The main influence factors affecting the selective water saving behavior of rural residents are environmental values, the time of showering hot water, the time of hot water in the kitchen, the cost savings, and the need to participate in water conservation, housing age and respondents’ educational level. The impact of its own environmental values is most significant;5.The habitual water-saving behavior of rural residents in Chengdu is much more affected by the gender of the respondents, family resident population, the ventilation of the house,self-responsibility and water-saving appliances are far greater than other influence factors. This paper proposes the following policy recommendations for the problems found in empirical research:1.The government and relevant departments need to further increase water resources investment to ensure that all residents can use tap water with qualified water quality at any time;2.Give full play to the functions of the water supply department, promote and use the water-saving appliances, and increase the management of the water supply department in case of emergency;3.Villagers adopt water-saving behaviors that are significantly affected by their own environmental values and their own sense of responsibility. Therefore, relevant government departments need to increase publicity and education on water resources make villagers have correct environmental values and enhance their sense of responsibility;4.Reasonable layout during the construction of the house, reasonable installation of the water heater position to reduce the time of hot water outlet to reduce water waste. |
