Aobao is a unique historical and cultural landscape of Mongolian people used for sacrifice. At present, the research on Aobao is focused on history, humanities and sociology, but there has been a lack of systematic research on its sacrifice space.Under the current national tourism background,Mongolian ritual sacrifices have been developed by the market and gradually evolved into largescale grassland gatherings due to the needs of regional economic development. However, improper development has led to a strong commercial atmosphere which weakened the original beliefs and rituals sense. Therefore,it is urgent to dig deep into the culture of ritual and sacrifice and to explore the sacrificial landscape adapted to the development of modem society.Firstly, based on the activity characteristics and spatial demands, this paper summarizes the feature of spatial sequence, spatial scale and seasonal change of ritual gardens and also analyze the methods of planning and design ritual gardens from the point of site selection, overall layout, building regulations and plants.Besides, the paper also discusses the transformation mode and design method of ritual gardens adapting to the development of modern society and provides a theoretical reference for the analysis of sacrificial space.Secondly, this paper uses the method of literature collection to analyze the cultural connotation, practical significance and development trend of Aobao sacrifice space through its origin, history and image characteristics. On the basis of sacrifice culture theory, typical cases are selected to summarize the activity characteristics, spatial layout and existing problems of Aobao sacrifice space. Finally, the theory of ritual garden planning and design will be linked with the customs and places of Aobao sacrifices to guide the design practice of the Erdos Aobao Park project.
