Study On The Traditional Settlement Landscape In Luling

Ancient village landscape reflects the ancestors' wisdom of adapting to and transforming nature for life and production.It consists of the site environment,the overall layout,the street network,the water system,and the landscape of greening and architecture of the village.With the mountainous and river-dense geographical environment,as well as a long-history culture of great splendor,Luling,the ancient Ji'an City,Jiangxi Province,has been pregnant with large numbers of ancient villages.Firstly,geographical environment,history and culture of Luling are introduced.Then,taking the landscape of 7 Chinese Historical and Cultural Villages as the objects,the landscape characteristics of typical ancient villages are studied in depth.And the influences of the geographical environment,the history and culture of villages are discussed.Thirdly,the landscape of 35 traditional villages was compared and analyzed,and the commonness and individuality of Luling ancient village landscape were extracted:Luling ancient villages are mostly built on valley plains and hilly land;The layout of the villages are dynamically developed with the clan multiplying;Streets are narrow and cramped;A variety of forms of water have functions of controlling the village layout,shaping the public space,strengthening the ancestral hall spirit and so on;Greening is outside of the villages,with a feature of"without camphor trees there would be no villages";The diverse ideology and culture led to various types of architecture,and gave birth to the native residential houses,which are of unique Jiangxi characteristics.Finally,it points out the present situation of the ancient village landscape of Luling,and makes some suggestions for protection.
