Abstract/Summary:
Yangzhou is a garden city with a history of 2500 years and profound cultural connotations.Located in the central part of Jiangsu Province,it is adjacent to the Huaihe River in the north,the Yangtze River in the South and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.It is one of the first 24 famous historical and cultural cities announced by the State Council.The city has a long history of humanities,good natural ecology and classical gardens that blend the north and the south.Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Yangzhou has become a port city where salt merchants gather together,relying on the transportation advantages of the Grand Canal.With the accumulation of salt merchants capital,salt merchants’ gardens have developed rapidly and gradually formed their own style.Among the many existing classical gardens in Yangzhou,such as the thin West Lake,Geyuan,He Yuan and Xiaopangu,the paving art is the most distinctive cultural heritage.Compared with other gardens,the paving art of Yangzhou gardens has its own characteristics in material selection,conception,composition and craftsmanship,which deserves careful study,inheritance and development.As the underlying surface of tourists’activities in gardens,paving is not only the basic practical function,but also the connotation of culture,art and landscape.The pavement of Yangzhou classical gardens is gradually formed under the background of Yangzhou’s individualized historical and cultural background.It contains unique regional cultural connotations,which are closely related to the daily life of local people.Starting from the historical and cultural characteristics of Yangzhou,this paper analyses the artistic characteristics and causes of the paving of classical gardens in Yangzhou,summarizes the role and significance of the paving of classical gardens in Yangzhou,the basic forms and characteristics of the paving composition,and the relationship between paving and other garden elements.This paper focuses on the analysis of the cultural connotations of common patterns used in the pavement of Yangzhou classical gardens,including:bats,fish,deer,butterflies,cranes and other popular animal patterns with auspicious meanings;plum blossom,Ganoderma lucidum and other plants with cultural flavor;ancient money,Ruyi and other living implements,as well as luck,luxury,longevity,joy,plaque and other text patterns,which are not available.Unlike the traditional Chinese culture,which is closely related to the atmosphere,the details of the pattern mapping everywhere reflect the regional climate,customs and cultural characteristics of Yangzhou.In terms of material selection,we mainly choose conventional materials such as green bricks,slabs and tiles,pebbles and so on,but the paving construction technology reflects the regional characteristics of Yangzhou everywhere.Finally,on the basis of fully analyzing and summarizing the characteristics of the paving art of Yangzhou classical gardens,this paper discusses how to inherit the essence of the paving art of Yangzhou classical gardens under the background of modern urban environment,and how to develop the paving art of Yangzhou classical gardens and apply it to modern urban environment by using new materials,new techniques and methods.As a unique form of garden culture,paving reflects the people’s yearning for a better life and the pursuit of artistic beauty.Excellent paving can further enhance the cultural atmosphere of garden landscape.In the new era,new materials and technologies are changing with each passing day,and the pursuit of art and beauty is more ancient and unchanged.For the modern paving landscape,we should pay attention to the inheritance and development of traditional paving art,so that the blue is better than the blue.
