In order to realize the fine management of bus route energy consumption for transit enterprise,a model for transit bus energy consumption estimates is needed. However, existed studies of quantitative analysis combined effects on transit energy consumption model need a large amount of data, which is not conductive to practical application.Based on the effect of passenger load on total vehicle mass, this study takes the method of modifying the vehicle specific power mass parameters,to describe the energy consumption difference of bus routes which caused by passenger load. And it proposes a multi-dimensional evaluation method, and it builds a model to reflect the difference of the energy consumption by bus types and passenger loads. The outcome can serve transit enterprise on energy consumption management, and also can provide reference for transit saving energy policies making. After reviewing related literatures, firstly, this study designed an estimated method for bus route energy consumption under microscopic scale, referring to the MOVES model.Calculated the transit energy consumption factors by describing the characteristics of bus operation energy consumption. Therefore, the study screened and quality controlled the operation data and energy consumption data.Secondly, the study analyzed the effect factors of bus route energy consumption model, and clarified the impact mechanism of bus type, average speed, passenger loads and driving behaviors to bus route energy consumption.According to the study, the energy consumption factor of transit bus decreases as a power function with the speed rises. Both bus type and passenger load effect the energy consumption factor by affecting the bus total mass. With the bus total mass increases, bus operation distribution shifts to right, the energy consumption factor increases at the same speed interval.Thirdly, based on the impact mechanism analysis of those multi-factors,the study calculated the relationship among different bus types of the same passenger loads, different passenger loads of the same bus types, total bus mass and per capita. The results show that:the energy consumption factors of full-load passengers are higher than the half-load passengers and higher than empty-load under the same speed interval, bus type. The energy consumption factors of articulated buses are higher than the double-decker bus and higher than single-decker bus under the same speed interval, passenger loads. The factors of articulated and double-decker are higher than single-decker when the total bus mass is the same.Half-load factors per capita are higher than full-load factors per capita.Fourthly, the study built a modified model of route energy consumption estimation under combined effects, based on the rules above. The model takes the energy consumption factors under single-decker bus,empty-load as the base factor, calculated the ratio between single-decker,double-decker,articulated bus and empty-load,half-load and full-load.The results are 1,1.45,1.57,1.27,1.60,2.16,1.60,2.14 and 2.43 respectively. Finally, the modified model is applied in a case study. It took 3 routes in Beijing, which are represents three typical bus types. And the difference error between modified model and MOVES is estimated. The results show that the calculated one-way average energy consumption amount is consistent with the results from MOVES,the difference error is iną12%.The double-decker buses' intensity of energy consumption per kilometer and per capita is higher than the single-decker buses5 and higher than the articulated buses'.
