Intelligent driving is an important direction of road traffic development in the future.It is of great significance to alleviate traffic congestion,enhance traffic safety and improve the quality of transport services.Intelligent driving is a comprehensive concept,which involves not only the vehicle itself,but also the construction of driving environment such as traffic infrastructure.To provide "smart road" for "smart car",the research of digital traffic sign demand model will contribute to the development of intelligent driving.Traffic signs are the most common type of road traffic infrastructure.Traffic signs are important carriers of traffic information transmission and play an important role in traffic management and transport organization.Existing traffic signs are mainly set up on the basis of ergonomics,which is suitable for people to see,but not necessarily completely suitable for machines.Although some studies have realized the limitations of the development of traffic sign visual recognition technology,they have begun to study the transmission mode of traffic sign information from a new perspective,but the existing research mainly focuses on wireless communication technology,lacking of systematic research on digital traffic sign system matching the development of intelligent driving from the perspective of transportation.Therefore,as the first step of system construction,the research of digital traffic sign demand model is imminent.After analyzing the research status and development trend at home and abroad,this paper mainly studies the demand model of digital traffic signs from four aspects.Firstly,from the perspective of intelligent driving research and development,the demand for traffic sign information is analyzed.Starting from the study of the characteristics of intelligent driving,this paper analyses its information needs,collects and analyses the inappropriate and temporary parts of the existing traffic sign information,and summarizes the demand of intelligent driving for traffic sign information.Then,according to the requirement of intelligent driving traffic sign information,the demand model of digital traffic sign is studied from three aspects of traffic sign information composition,transmission and compliance.In the aspect of traffic sign information composition,through the research on the demand of sign function,four basic functions are summarized: speed control,road right allocation,route guidance and early warning attention.Three kinds of extended information are proposed,namely,auxiliary positioning information,traffic sign action area information and customized travel information.The composition of key information is analyzed according to the characteristics of each function or information.In the aspect of traffic sign information transmission,through the study of the dynamic influencing factors of traffic sign information,the coding structure of dynamic influencing factors and the classification table of dynamic influencing factors are formed through the analysis of five aspects: human,vehicle,road,environment and traffic management,which lays a foundation for the targeted transmission of traffic sign information.In the aspect of traffic sign information compliance,through the research on the priority of traffic sign information,the evaluation index system of traffic sign information priority is established.Combining AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process)and TOPSIS(Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution)based on Mahalanobis distance,the solution model of traffic sign information priority is established,and the actual case is selected to validate the model.Finally,the research results are summarized,and the shortcomings and future research directions are explained.
