With the rise of the fourth industrial revolution and the emergence of new knowledge and technology,engineering practice activities have undergone tremendous changes,and engineering education is at an important juncture of reform and development.In order to improve the quality of engineering science and technology talents in China and meet the needs of future social and strategic emerging industries,the Ministry of Education proposed the“New Engineering Education”action plan for engineering education reform in 201 7 to promote China’s engineering education reform and innovation.This paper first reviews the connotation and practical discussion of new engineering and the research status of body of knowledge,and attempts to explore the development trend of engineering discipline from the perspective of body of knowledge.The paper selects different versions of the typical engineering subject report about body of knowledge,and uses text analysis and comparative analysis to analyze and compare the text of the body of knowledge report in the time dimension,the overall evolution trend of the capability standards and requirements for engineers in international mainstream engineering disciplines is preliminarily obtained.The paper also selected the case study of typical engineering disciplines in China and conducted empirical research.The interview research method and case analysis method were adopted.The course system of engineering discipline was taken as the research sample of the body of knowledge,and the changes of course content and structure were analyzed.This paper reviews the overall development of the discipline and summarizes the characteristics of the periodical changes of the two different types of engineering disciplines.By combing and analyzing the evolution of engineering subject body of knowledge,this paper finds and summarizes two different evolution paths as"absorption" for traditional engineering and "integration" for emerging engineering.According to the evolution path of two types of engineering disciplines,the author puts forward corresponding policy recommendations,in order to provide reference for the practice development of new engineering.
