| At the United Nations Conference on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage held in 2009,a traditional Chinese technique was included in the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.That is traditional Chinese timber structure construction,which has provoked people to re-emphasize the heritage of construction technologies and and relevant cultural practices.In previous studies on traditional Chinese dwellings,the ceremonies during construction were often neglected,but as a matter of fact,the construction activities themselves are ritual to a great extent,and they also play a vital role in revealing the deep cultural significance of human activities.Therefore,construction activities,as well as the construction techniques,should be comprehensively studied and protected as intangible cultural heritage.The society and culture of Huizhou is a typical representative of the late feudal Chinese society and culture,which determines its unique and important position in the Chinese society and the history of Chinese cultural development.In 2010,traditional Huizhou architectural construction techniques were included in the second batch of masterpieces of China intangible cultural heritage.After that,relevant data collection and rescue work was also carried out,achieving great results.Nevertheless,theoretical studies on the construction ceremony that runs throughout the entire construction process have not yet been systematic.Against such a backdrop,this study tries to restore the performance process of the construction ceremony of traditional folk houses in Huizhou.Through analyzing the form,content and significance of the construction ceremony in this region,the deep cultural connotation,function and value of the construction ceremony are explored.In the end,the author studies whether the construction ceremony can achieve further development with new vitality based on the protection of ceremonies in the construction of traditional folk houses. |
