As the main tool of cargo transportation, ship has caused serious pollution to the coastal environment of our country along the coast and the Yangtze River, and the environmental pollution of inland river water body has been deteriorating.Atmospheric pollutants from ships include particulate matter, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons from engine combustion. The use of clean energy will improve this situation.Liquefied natural gas(LNG)is recognized as one of the clean energy sources in the world, which has advantages of emission, economy and safety compared with diesel. Therefore, the conversion of marine engine oil to gas is not only the development trend of inland waterway shipping, but also the necessary measures of national environmental protection.According to the needs of ecological development and environmental protection in Guizhou province and combined with the actual situation, this paper takes a 500 ton multi-purpose container ship in inland water as the research object to carry out the analysis and research on the oil-to-gas project.By comparing the merits and demerits of the modification scheme, the paper puts forward the implementation scheme of high feasibility, low modification cost and small modification to the original ship. The technical scheme of multi-point injection of intake manifold for diesel engine is determined, and the ship hull modification scheme for C-type LNG tank is selected. The ship’s dynamic part and hull part are retrofitted, respectively, according to the standard requirements in the course of refitting.Increase the corresponding safety measures to ensure the safe navigation of the ship after modification. The external characteristic test and propulsion characteristic test of the modified engine are carried out.According to the collected data, the performance differences of the dual-fuel engine in power performance, economy and emission characteristics in two modes are analyzed.According to the analysis, the engine power performance in the dual-fuel mode is basically equal to the original engine, which meets the power requirements of the inland marine engine, and the fuel consumption cost is saved by27.5%on average compared with the pure diesel fuel, which meets the economic target. The emission of NO_X is lower than that of the original, the emission of HC,CO is higher than that of the original, the emission of soot is obviously reduced, and the overall emission performance is improved. After the safety verification of the modified ship is completed, the ship will be piloted and the relevant data will be collected. The operation benefit of the modified ship is analyzed.Compared with the pure diesel mode, the fuel cost is saved 127.1 yuan per hour in the dual fuel mode, and the fuel cost saving rate is 25.6%.Combined with the actual situation, the investment cost of the ship can be recovered in 4.69 years, the fuel cost can be saved 1.827 million yuan for 15 years, and the economic benefit of the actual operation is considerable. The research results of this paper can provide technical reference for the modification of small-tonnage ships in inland rivers. This ship is a successful oil-to-gas-operated ship in the first bow of Guizhou Inland River, which guides the development of green inland waterway shipping in Guizhou.
