IISuzhou antient town,as one of the first batch of historical and cultural cities in China, the renewal of historical districts in which has always been highly paid attention to.The relevant scholars have also done many theoretical and practical research in many areas such as cultural heritage, architecture and planning, public relations, and tourism management about them.Among the series of problems in the process of renewal, the pollution of rivers in downtown caused by surface runoffs comes to be one of its major contradictions, which exposes the defects of the underground rainwater infrastructure calling for the renovation.Under this situation, this paper defines the rainwater infrastructure and proposes to combine it with the landscape design in the historic district. On the one hand,it works in conjunction with the underground rainwater infrastructure to improve efficiency of draining. On the other hand,it also improves the physical environment. After choosing the historic districts in Suzhou as the subject of research, the relevant conceptions and theories are elaborated. The overviews of relevant research progress at home and abroad are conducted from the aspects of the renewal of historic district and the combination between the landscape and rainwater infrastructure. Then, the necessity of combining rainwater infrastructure with landscape is put forward by reviewing the renewal process of Suzhou historic districts along with the history of rainwater infrastructure development. The feasibility analysis is also carried out from both subjective and objective perspectives.Based on the research of the necessity and feasibility, the characteristics of historic district and the defects of rainwater infrastructure in Suzhou are studied. After which this paper puts forward three goals and five principles of landscapeization of rainwater infrastructure according to environmental problems caused by unsystematic rainwater and rain-sewage confluence.Taking them as guidances, the core strategies include building a rainwater system enlightened by local classical gardens, establishing split-flow facilities emulating nature and creating diversified landscape nodes using rainwater in historic districts in Suzhou are summarized by analysing relevant precidentcases. Finally,in order to systematically consummate the research strategies and apply them, the author takes Yiyuan historical district of Suzhou as a design research case.Taking the rainwater infrastructure status in Yiyuan historical district as a starting point, three transformation strategies for the regions, lanes, and nodes are proposed and the idea of treating the modularization of landscape into "dot-line-face" landscape system in the district is also discussed in the process.
