A Proposal For Adaptive Reuse In Chengcun.Project "Homestay"

Many villages in China have been facing problems of urbanization,looking for a more comfortable house with a modern lifestyle.Many houses are demolished and abandoned,their values are not taken into account.The adaptive reuse is a solution to save the buildings heritages against demolition and abandonment.It consists of recycles the buildings by ensuring its conservation and durability by giving it another function than the one before.It is therefore necessary to know what conservation and reuse should be applied to achieve sustainability.The aim of this research is to know adaptive reuse and its stakeholders.In the term of sustainability,how to combine the modern lifestyle with that of traditional house? First,we will study two case studies on restoration to adaptive reuse.Then the analysis of heritages buildings,the needs of the villagers in Chengcun.Finally adopt the adaptive reuse in one building.By exploring the problem,the needs of the inhabitant and the tourism asset of the village,the study leads us to a flexible project whose basement of the building can be used as a commerce,which is the characteristic of the village.However,in this thesis,this research brings to "Homestay".A project that addresses the problems of the villagers and shows that modern life can be introduced into heritages building "new in old" while keeping these authenticity and integrity.
