Due to the complexity of ship construction project,the schedule control is the main problem of shipbuilding.Guangxin Shipyard’s schedule control management ability is weak,so the project delay problem has been bothering a tremendous obstacle to its development.The company urgently needs to seek a schedule control method,set up a prototype,to turn the situation.Therefore,it is necessary to study the schedule control of shipbuilding project.This paper starts from the current situation of project progress control research in China and abroad.It describes the actual situation of the Guangxin Shipyard and the 8000 hp AHTS.There were 29 projects delayed of the company’s 31 similar projects,as 93.54 %.The 8000 hp AHTS is similar to that of previous projects.If there is no special measure,the probability of delay will be very high.We present three problems of project schedule control in this paper: resource allocation,Uncertainty factor and monitoring mechanism.According to these three issues,as well as the characteristics of the critical chain technology,we chose it as the theoretical basis for trying to build a simple and feasible project schedule control scheme.The critical chain technology include two key point: TOC and the buffer management mechanism.We have made meaningful attempts to use these theories and techniques in the process of planning,optimizing and cushioning the progress of the 8000 hp AHTS project.In practice,the critical chain technology is applied and verified,and the effect is obvious.The project’s final delivery period was reduced by 19.2 %.According to the critical chain technology combined with the company of project application,we got the following three conclusions: In view of resource constraints we use TOC theory for the task time dislocation arrangement can solve it;The method of inserting buffer volume in the project schedule can alleviate the impact of uncertainty factor.With the buffer management mechanism,the monitoring and correction of the schedule of the project can be monitored and corrected by the combination of the consumption of the monitoring buffer.In this paper,through the study of the critical chain technology and methods,we work out the effective scheme to solve the schedule control of the project of 8000 hp AHTS.And the validity verification is obtained in the actual job.The research results of this paper can be used for reference in the schedule control of other shipbuilding projects.
