As a terrestrial region in Southeast Asia,Indochina has an extremely important historical position in Asia's cultural exchange network. At the same time,it has a long history and inseparable geographical relationship with China.Based on natural geography, various cultural exchange activities are important influence factors for the formation and development of cities and countries in the Indochina Peninsula, such as the evolution of ethnic migration, the spread of religious culture, and commercial trade exchanges. However, china has always played an important role in this process and has left a vast collection of ancient books. Therefore,China has inherent advantages in the field of studying the historical city of Indochina Peninsula. The urban pattern in Asia has been reconstructed, because of the emergence of various transnational economies and traffic corridors. At the same time, with the conception and development of the “One Belt and One Road,” China's cultural policy towards Southeast Asia has become increasingly important. The range of implementation targets has also expanded from cities and countries to the entire region.Under this circumstance,as a basis for the implementation of regional strategic planning,it is of great practical significance to put historical cities in the context of large regions for research. The research in this field is almost blank in our country, while the research in foreign countries is very fragmented and disorganized. Therefore, conducting a separate study on historical cities will make it difficult to grasp the spatial and temporal cues of the formation and evolution of their spatial forms, and it is even more difficult to correctly understand their position in the entire process of regional cultural exchanges. This paper hopes to adopt a large regional perspective, taking the Indochina Peninsula region as a background, using different types of cultural exchanges as clues, adopting planning research methods of historical information space translation and historical map translation, intuitively combing and interweaving the historical and cultural exchange network of the Indochina Peninsula in time and space, and extracting a central city library of great significance.Afterwards, basing on the basin, the characteristics of these historical and cultural exchange center cities are compared and analyzed. Finally,by summarizing and analyzing the spatial patterns of the study of cities,we will explore the causes and characteristics of the cities, review their position in the history of cultural exchanges in the Indochina Peninsula. We propose the role that these historical cities can play in the new period and the possible direction of development. It is hoped that this paper can be initiated and provided new ideas for urban research in Southeast Asia, and also provide a favorable research basis for China's strategic planning in Southeast Asia.
