Design Research Of Intellectual Products For Early Alzheimer's Patients In Universal Design

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative cognition mainly composed of cognitive disorder,which is of irreversibility and gradualness and frequently seen among the elderly above 65.There is no curative approach for Alzheimer's disease,but patients can alleviate their cognitive deterioration through proper cognitive rehabilitation training.Intellectual products are attached great importance to patients as a supplementary equipment in cognitive rehabilitation training.At present,the market aimed at intellectual products for elderly are greatly needed,and most of the intellectual products used by those elder patients are actually designed for children,which are in single and outmoded forms,even partly the appearance,function and human-machine size are not suitable for those elder patients.Therefore the author try to integrate the idea “design for everybody” in universal design into the research on intellectual products of the early elder Alzheimer patients for their better experience when using the products.This project is based on the people-orientated universal design concept,selecting the early elder Alzheimer patients as main research object,to explore the role of intellectual products in the cognitive rehabilitation training of the patients,meanwhile pointing its design detects compared with the same kind products circulated in the market,then putting forward new directions and thoughts aimed at these patients for innovation and improvement,so as to help the early elder Alzheimer patients to positively take part in rehabilitation training,enriching their leisure life at the same time,letting them face the disease and life with a more positive attitude.This research is mainly divided into the following four parts:The first part is chapter one and chapter two of the article,mainly including the research background,universal design theory and group analysis of the early elder Alzheimer patients.The second part is chapter three and chapter four of the article.To begin with,the author collects and organizes the existing intellectual products aimed at Alzheimer patients,further analyzing its future development trend.Next,take deep analysis on the actual needs of these patients via user surveys.At last,apply universal design concept into the design and research of the early elder Alzheimer patients,making suitable analysis on its possibilities and necessity.At the same time,this part gives six design principles in this kind of products,such as tolerance for error,easy to use and learn,fit function,strengthening ability,encouragement and guidance,multi-sensory stimulation,etc.It also carries out three design key points such as emotion,interest and cybotaxis,etc.The third part is chapter five of the article,which is the design practice of this paper.The author summarizes the design direction of user' needs in chapter three,combined with relevant design theory in chapter four,trying to carry out possible design schemes for meeting the needs of the early elder Alzheimer patients.The fourth part is chapter six of the article,it gathers all research conclusions and then points out its disadvantages and shortages,further forecasting relevant research on intellectual products for the early elder Alzheimer patients.
